Our Church
We are a family oriented church and welcome people of all denominations (or none) to our services. For the most part these are semi-informal and may be inter-active. We have a small group of accomplished musicians who accompany our singing (taking music from the Songs of Fellowship series of books).
Our Sunday worship:
- Sunday is the day when the church family comes together to worship God, to hear what he has to say to us through the teaching from the Bible and to talk to him in prayer.
- We aim to find a style that balances the informal and the more traditional, with worship that is open and informal using different styles of worship.
- Our church is made up of all ages. Children are welcome at all our services with special provision made for them to go out for teaching, craft and games leaving the adults to enjoy their service.
- Our regular Sunday morning services start at 11:00am in the St. Mary’s Island School Hall. Coffee is always available after the service, to give time to chat and get to know other members of the church family.
As part of the service on the second Sunday of every month up to Easter we celebrate Communion together then after Easter we will celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month. On the fourth Sunday morning of each month we have a FAMILY SERVICE, which as its name suggests, is for every one – families being made up of people of all ages.
Baptisms and Marriages:

- The Island Church is licensed for marriages – and we have had the pleasure of marrying two couples and also holding two Services of Blessing of a Marriage after a Civil Wedding. All enquiries to one of the church leaders.
- Should you want a young child (baby) baptised our policy on Infant Baptism states that parents must first bring their child for a Service of Thanksgiving after which the parents may decide to have a Service of Infant Baptism – or nothing. The choice lies with the parent. Alternatively you could choose a Service of Dedication for your child.
The church leaders are always ready to visit you in your home if you have anything you would want to discuss with them.
Our mission statement:
- To build a worshiping community of Christ-Centred people communicating the Gospel of Jesus
The Christian Church on St. Mary’s Island in partnership with St. Mark’s, South East Baptist Association and the Medway Towns Group of United Reformed Churches.
The church leaders are always ready to visit you in your home if you have anything you would want to discuss with them.
